Margaret Kemble Gage

Margaret Kemble Gage

1734 AD - 1824 AD

History

Governor Thomas Gage's wife, Margaret Kemble Gage, was sympathetic to the colonists’ plight. Although there’s no confirmed evidence, sources speculate that hours before Paul Revere rode to warn Lexington and Concord about the British Regulars, Mrs. Gage provided vital information about her husband’s military plans. Her husband may have suspected her of spying, since he sent her back to England shortly thereafter.
